Today I discovered the true value of our proofreader and how valuable she is.
I have been putting together an email newsletter, some of you may have received it. I was sending it to our proofreader and didn’t realise that our database was tagged onto the email. Basically the spelling and grammar was terrible, we have had emails and phone calls saying how beautiful our products are BUT, “who the hell wrote the copy”, “use seriously need to get it proofed”. Arse, arse, arse, arse!
You can’t believe how disappoint I am, we spend to long researching, designing and creating beautiful products and in one easy slip we balls it up. It just gives out potential, new and existing customers the wrong impression.
So to all who received our email please accept our apologies this was an honest mistake.

We are pleased to annouce that we have won the HSBC Start-up Stars Regional (Scotland) Green Award 2010.
The Judges we’re looking for a businesses with a specific focus on environmental issues, and who can demonstrate:
a proven innovative approach to climate control
energy consumption and conservation – this could be a new product with superb green credentials
an innovative way to reduce the impact of a business on the environment or a business that is dedicated to conserving dwindling energy resources.
We now go on to the national finial which will consist of 9 other regional finialist to compete for a £10,000 grant. Wish us luck )
Ayrshire Company launches a new concept in luxury accommodation for the hotel market.
Escape Lodges (Scotland) Ltd founded by design and construction specialists Gordon and Andrew Brown have launched a range of luxury natural wooden retreats specifically design for the hotel and restaurant industry. The Escape Lodges which presents something completely new to the hotel world has been developed over the last 18 months by the Ayrshire based father and son team.
The Escape which is an environmentally sustainable retreat that offers it’s guests a unique and exquisite hotel experience with it‘s quaint yet timeless romantic appeal.
Gordon and Andrews who’s back ground in bespoke Treehouse design and construction have created some of the world‘s most beautiful Treehouses, have now turn their experience to Escape Lodges. Gordon says “most lodges are either contemporary style boxes or out-dated rectangular hut shape buildings, both of course have there place. However they are not particularly appropriate for up market countryside hotels. We wanted to create something different that would not only be in keeping throughout the years but blend in with the surroundings while offering luxury for visiting guests Yet still being financially sustainable for the hotel operator.
Adding an Escape has huge benefits. By adding extra bedrooms at premium rates, a hotel operator can increase the number of guests using existing facilities. The extra revenue generated through increased bar and restaurant takings, a direct result of boosted occupancy, could add significantly to the operators turnover.
Escape Lodges which launched in February have already generated an encouraging amount of interest thought-out Scotland and the borders. With the first of the lodges being installed in early summer in the highlands of Scotland.

‘It’s exciting times’ says Andrew ‘although we’re obviously in an economic down turn, forward thinking hoteliers are looking to the future by generating additional streams of income while maximising there existing facilities and differentiating themselves from there competitors.

For all those interest in Art, a great wee place to visit if your in Ayrshire is the Courtyard Studio’s at Irvine’s Harbourside. With around 15 artists you can pop in and see the artists at work.
Over the years I’ve been working on my own Treehouse book, it’s full of beautiful colour photo’s of some of best Treehouses in the UK. I don’t know when it’ll be finished but it’s been great fun looking back at my career, I really did work on a vast amount interesting projects over the years…… and it was great fun working on them.
Once upon a time not so long ago I a was Treehouse designer, yip thats right a Treehouses designer…I still do one every now and again. You probably didn’t even know there was such a thing, but I designed treehouses for some of the UK rich a famous for about 10 year or so. The UK treehouses industry was one of the most productive and proactive in the world, and theres probably more treehouses in the UK than anywhere else in the world. The majority of them have at some point past over my desk )
So I thought since Treehouses was and to a certain extent still is a big part of my life I thought I share some stories with you as well as some great books that are worth a look.
